Class D

Although Class-D technology had been a well-established concept in electronics, Powersoft was a pioneer in implementing pulse width modulation technology in power amplifiers for professional audio.
Furthermore, Powersoft was the first company to introduce Class D based high-power amplification modules to be used in active loudspeakers.
Class D technology allows extremely high-efficiency values and higher amplification performances, alongside with improved reliability.

Such levels of efficiency are the result of a combination of factors:

  • Low power consumption
  • High power density
  • Smaller and lighter amplifiers
  • Less amplifiers needed to run the same system
  • Lower heat dissipation
  • Lower operating temperature
  • Lower carbon emissions

These factors are of paramount importance in real-world scenarios, a smaller, lighter, and more powerful amplifier is easier to transport. Thanks to the power density fewer units can be specified, with a direct effect on running costs and cooling costs.
