Florence, Italy (21 October 2013) – The Mars Entertainment Group, renowned as one of the most luxurious entertainment brands in Turkey, chose Powersoft distributor Asimetrik Sound, Lighting & Visual Systems to provide a professional solution for the rooftop nightclub venue Nu Teras, in the Taksim area of Istanbul.
Their decision was based on Asimetrik’s capability to deliver a creative system design, with fast on-site installation and reliable after-sales support – based on three decades of operation. Mars Entertainment Group was also familiar with the quality of Asimetrik’s work, having contracted them to deliver several cinemas and fitness centers in the past.
Nu Teras is one of the most expensive club/restaurants in Istanbul, offering a magnificent view of the Bosphorus from its roof terrace.
“In terms of location and operation Nu Teras sits right at the very top,” says Görkem Çelikbilek, Electrical & Electronics Engineer and VP of Asimetrik. “Consequently, this is a great reference installation for us and a large step towards improving Turkey’s vision of professional audio systems. We invested maximum effort in designing a system that can only be described as world-class,” he says.
However, operating in the open air and being positioned between residential buildings, created a significant challenge: to design a system that sounded fantastic but at the same time caused minimum noise pollution.
“The installation, therefore, required the highest quality components, and so we chose a solution using products from Powersoft and EAW. The resulting sound experience is magnificent.”
Powersoft had been an obvious choice, he said. “First of all, we needed plenty of power, as we had to deliver the most efficient signal to the speakers at all times. Reliability was the second reason. We sometimes get power variances in Istanbul ? and the Powersoft amps make it safe for the speakers, as it provides protection against voltage drops from the power grid.”
The system solution consists of 6 Powersoft K2 and 6 K10 amplifiers with onboard DSP, powering EAW JFL210, JF80, JF10, and SB250 cabinets. Early evening the system delivers hi-fidelity chill-out music as an ambient soundscape for the diners, but after midnight this soon revs up into full-on house music.
This transition is carefully managed in the Powersoft environment, says Görkem. “The DSP and flexibility of the system enable us to deliver perfect filtering, EQ, and sound quality while providing the speaker with sufficient non-stop power.”
And while Powersoft’s advanced DSP helps the venue deliver homogenous sound inside the venue, the flexibility of the speaker dispersion angles made it possible for us to avoid sound leakage to the surrounding environment.
The venue owners stated their appreciation and satisfaction, noting the crystal clear audio quality and absence of sound pollution. Says Görkem, “We can compare this place’s sound quality with anywhere we have visited. The resident DJs, guest DJs and guests are constantly complimenting us on the sound.”
His own views are equally unequivocal about the success of this pairing. “You can clearly hear each frequency with equal weighting, the music hits you in the heart, and you feel the beats.
“To wherever point you wander inside the club, you never experience a change in SPL or in the clarity of the music. It’s consistent throughout. Even though most artists and DJs make their music with their laptops nowadays, with this sound system we always get the maximum efficiency.”
As a customer himself, Görkem Çelikbilek can view this objectively. “After 1am, you will not see anyone who is not dancing … and that includes the owner of Mars Entertainment Group in the DJ booth, dancing and enjoying the music!”
