K Series Makes Deep Waves At Morjana Club In Dubai

Firenze, Italy (28 July 2014) - A new 800-capacity luxury nightclub in Dubai is driving its sound system with a super-efficient, and highly economical engine ? courtesy of Powersoft?s processor-controlled K3 amplifiers. Owned by Mohamad Kraidie (who also runs Diablo Club) the new Morjana nightclub at the Radisson Blu Hotel offers a unique interior ? designed like a museum but aimed to give its clientele the impression they are partying at the bottom of the sea. Since the owner is also a music producer and professional DJ (operating under the name DJ Cowboy) the quest from the outset was to achieve the best sound possible. Pulse Middle East Trading were brought in to mastermind the fit-out from the beginning. ? We decided to plan something that would be different from any other club ,? said Joe Chidiac, audio specialist and managing partner at Pulse, who co-designed the system with colleague, Rami Haber. ? The owner likes to work with us as he trusts our vision and the designs that we can provide. ? Their plan was to deliver fast-fit, high end sound, light and LED screens at a sensible budget. Despite having just a 45-day window to complete, they developed a close cooperative working relationship with Jaafar Daher, owner of architects JD Design, and their fellow contractors. After demoing different systems, Kraidie opted for the irresistible TW Audio/Powersoft combination, matching ?the best sound system he had heard?, capable of producing a clear, undistorted and evenly distributed sound up to 143dB, with the incredible power saving and optimisation properties of Powersoft?s K3 DSP+AESOP 2800W 2-channel amplifier. Justifying the selection, he said, ? We particularly wanted to improve the quality of low-resolution Arabic music sound files, which are generally of very low sound quality ? and this has really changed the game .? Powersoft?s advanced and highly efficient switchmode power supply, offering masses of power in just 1RU, with an enviable power to weight ratio, was the obvious solution. ? Since the venue struggled with sufficient available power to feed all the AV and lighting equipment, the fact that Powersoft K3 DSP+AESOP saved 40% on the power consumption compared with other well-known brands was a real bonus. In fact the client didn?t believe that it could produce and handle so much power in just 1RU ? even driven at 2ohms .? The entire system is controlled by just 12 of the flagship digital K3?s ? and this includes a mighty inventory of 12 custom made, white painted TW Audio T24P dual 12in horn loaded enclosures, with 14 B30 dual 15in bandpass subwoofers, four B15 15in front loaded subwoofers and a single BSX dual 21in infra sub, as well as a powerful pair of C15/B15 reference monitors. ? That a quarter size rack could power such a massive installation, and one of the largest clubs in the UAE is amazing !? continues Chidiac. ? The benefits were clear from both an installer and integrator point of view, ? A 12U rack, holding 12 x K3 DSP+AESOP could comfortably produce 70,000W of pure sound using TW factory presets routed and remote controlled and monitored by Armonía Pro Audio Suite? 2.4.1 software. ? With the built-in DSP, we just needed to link the amplifiers together in stereo mode, back to the DJ booth without going through any external processors. Each K3 channel can be controlled individually and the complete sound processing tailored without getting limited to a specific control mode. ? But the advantages are endless, as Powersoft also saved valuable time during the installation and rack commissioning period. ?It took little time to build the rack up to termination phase and then undertake the programming; it took just minutes to download the presets and the identity for each installed cabinet in the club.? Ventilation also posed no issue as the K3 DSP+AESOP has a unique chassis design and the latest technology for the amplifiers to cool each other while they are stacked on top of each other. ?These are the only amplifiers that are purpose designed to be stacked on top of each other ? something that we discovered during the installation.? The result is that while the sound system typically outputs 130dB, evenly distributed throughout the club, the Powersoft K3-DSP+AESOP is utilising just 50% of its available power ? within an environment acoustically optimized by Matthew Carter of Acoustic Logic, who reviewed the audio design and tested for room reverberation before delivering complete isolation for the club. From the clientele?s perspective the exemplary sound is only one part of the story. The design structure fits an ingenious nautical theme, with mermaids at the bottom of the sea, and star shapes in the ceiling, brought to life by intelligent lighting to tell the story of ?the deep?. The lighting and AV were supplied by Pro Lab Trading L.L.C. ? There are many fantastic things to say about this installation, but in short, the Morjana Club?s design and installation is truly a work of art ? both technically and visually ," believes Karl Kahlau, Powersoft Regional Manager, EMEA. ? We are increasingly seeing installations where factors such as extreme power density, reliability and manageability ? all areas in which the Powersoft K-Series excels ? are becoming increasingly important; the necessity to minimise the equipment footprint becomes significant. ? Put simply, the decision to use the K3 has led to a reduction in rack real estate from 35 RU for a standard amplifier solution to a mere 12 RU using the Powersoft solution ? or  from three full-sized racks, taking up a complete room, to just one single rack. Furthermore, with Powersoft K-Series? built-in DSP engine, Pulse has the unique ability to control the power from the amplifiers at the core, monitoring all critical parameters.
