Powersoft providing amplification to one of most famous Belgian clubs

Westerlo ? January 2010 - Club Reflex is one of the oldest and most famous clubs in the east of Belgium, going back to the 80's and still n°1 in its region. The music style is commercial dance and the Club is famous for actively organizing special evenings, guest DJ events and extravaganza themed parties. The Owner Luc Verbeek constantly invests to keep a state of the club environment and recently updated his sound system and created a separate Cocktail Lounge, works started mid 2009 and finished end of 2009.
The club is a multi room complex without acoustic separation which creates a real challenge for the sound system. On one end the problem was solved by applying a multi zone speaker concept using different types of speakers driven by the Martin Audio DSP engine.
The head of sound, DJ Alain required this functionality as to adapt the sound image to the music, from the crowd volume to the widest range of events.
This concept is based on a variety of different type of speakers all Martin Audio, from ceiling speaker C115, to Blackline F8+ full range cabinets, to WTUB balcony speakers and the big main Blackline H3+ 3 way active quadraphonic dance floor system. For subs the Bassbeam principle designed by Teamprojects was chosen, which was the only way to control the low end beams in this open acoustical building. It was important to make sure that the dance areas had enough sub push without disturbing the surrounding bar areas or balcony areas. The challenge was to create a stunning booming sound on the dance fields and a lounge sound at the surrounding areas so guest can communicate and enjoy the music without being blasted away. In total 76 speakers are controlled by 5 Engineers 818 and 46 channels of Powersoft amplification.
For this kind of multi speaker system the amplification needed to be versatile, performing and ecological in power use. Powersoft gave us the solution due to its range of Class D series and due to their extended range we can feed each range of speakers with the exact power rating within one product range. For the main PA 1x K8DSP & K2DSP series were used for internal processing on speaker management adjustments but also implementing cable length compensation and limiting functions. For the smaller speakers LQ2804 and LQ2004 were selected giving quality to pro end amplification and the exact power rating, enough channel selection and compact housing to fit in the limited rack space.
Installation ended up with amplification channels between 700 watts and 4000 watts all mounted in one central amplification room and even didn't need to provide any forced cooling!
The final system has now 6 different pre-programmed event mode settings and makes sure that each guest has the most defined high end sound, crystal clear where needed and fat booming where wanted. But all under the thumb and control of the head of sound who's able to fine-tune his show.
