Powersoft amps are the best choice for Luminário Produções

Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. May 14th, 2018 - Rental company Luminário Produçoes, located at the North of Brazil, provides audio, video, lighting and trussing solutions for different kind of events.

Tomas Lyra, owner and manager of the company, recently had the chance of getting a EAW system for a reasonable price point and decided to call longtime friend and audio engineer Gera Vieira to test it and see if it was a good investment for them.

"At first, we were just doing a lot of research for a new speaker system. I had convinced Tomas that the only thing he didn't have a choice was about the amplifiers for the system. He purchased two Powersoft X4s and we started using them for everything we could within his old inventory. From subs to wedges, we are always astounded by the results. I told him it was a good investment and once he was ready to make his move toward a new system he would already have the right choice of amplifier”, Gera explained.

The EAW system had been in Brazil for quite a while. “I can only guess people selling it were never able to deliver the true sound of the speakers to a potential buyer, since it wasn't a complete system without its processor and, furthermore, without the right amplifier”, Gera said.

When Tomas told him what the seller had in hand, he quickly jumped into studying the system, especially if it had presets for the Powersoft X Series. Not only it did, but it had a full interaction with the EAW Greyboxes too.

“I gave Tomas a green light for a test after making sure I had all the info I needed. We flew into Porto Alegre, a city at the very South of Brazil, to conduct the tests and went to ProShows, a former EAW representative and a major seller of pro audio products in Brazil. Once we fired up the system with the Powersoft amps, the wow factor was brought upon the faces of everybody present at the test!”, he highlights.

“More than a theoretical approach, it was a field test that proved we had made the right choice! When we got at the site to do the EAW testing, a rack of Crown HD 4x3500s was providing power for the system. Don't ask what kind of processing was in there but it wasn't what the speakers needed. Once we switched to the X4 with the matching Greyboxes for each model of speaker in the system, the jaw dropping effect was immediate. The power of the amplifier combined with the power of the DSP controlled by the Armonía Suite is unparalleled!”, Gera explains.

he deal for the EAW KF730s and SB730s was just the tip of the iceberg. A full rig comprised of 26 x KF740s was also tested and acquired during that time and Luminário is now waiting for two X8 DSP+D amplifiers and one X4 more that are already on the way to complete the power for the whole system.

In less than a year, Luminário's inventory jumped from zero to four X8s, three X4s and a brand new EAW multipurpose system.

The Powersoft Experience

The awareness about Powersoft technology came to Gera when he took a Level One training course at Clair Brothers with Fabiano Rezende from Fly Audio Solutions, Technical Support Head for Universal Music (Powersoft's distributor) in Brazil.

They exchanged a lot of info about Powersoft ongoing development and very recently Geral was invited by him and Universal Music’s Jean Costa to translate an Armonía Training Seminar in São Paulo, promoted by River Music Pro, Universal Music’s main dealer in the country.

“There I became a true believer and totally fascinated by the way the Powersoft amplifier technology interacts with the transducers in a speaker. I can tell you after listening to a lot of things in audio, Powersoft is really in a level way above competitors! Since that day, I have been converting the knowledge acquired during that seminar into the driving force behind Luminário's newest acquisitions”, he said.

Firstuseof the system

The first show for the KF730 & SB730 rig was held at Instituto Ricardo Brennand's art gallery in the city of Recife, where a luxurious banquet was setup for about 500 VIP guests. The event was part of the 17º LIDE Management Forum and Luminário Produçoes provided a full coverage of sound, lighting and LED panels. The main performance was in charge of Alceu Valença, a major Brazilian artist.

One Powersoft X8 amplifier was used for the main system composed of six EAW KF730s flown per side, being three speakers handled per pair of channels, while one Powersoft X4 was in charge of the EAW SB730 subs, with three elements stacked per side and also three speakers handled per pair of channels.

Everybody was very pleased with the results. Alveu Valença’s FOH engineer, Rogério Andrade, and Tomas Lyra, owner of Luminário Produçoes, received a personal compliment from the event’s general producer for the sound. “Rogério was all smiles and really happy with the response he got from the system. After the soundcheck, Alceu's lead guitar player wanted to know what was the secret besides the EAW brand for such a great sound and went to the stage side to check out Powersoft’s X Series amplifiers. He was truly amazed with the power to size ratio!”, Geraldo details.
